The Nilein Mosque in Omdurman, Sudan by Gamar Edowla Abdelgadir in 1976. The project was originally a final thesis by Abdelgadir, a student from the University of Khartoum, and was unexpectedly chosen by the president of Sudan to be built on this site by the Nile. He focused on the basis of Islamic art, the mastering of geometric forms. It consist of diamond shaped panels placed to form a dome creating a futuristic look that contrast with the organic landscape. In addition, the interior is decorated with traditional Islamic plasterwork creating a play with old and modern.
